Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial for David M. Ott, 67, of Davenport, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 until 7 p.m. at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, downtown Davenport with a prayer service and time of sharing at 6:30 p.m. Please come dressed in Cubs apparel or colors to visitation. Memorials may be made to Handicapped Development Center or Holy Family Catholic Church.
David passed away Saturday, August 21, 2021 at WestWing Senior Living, DeWitt. Dave was surrounded by his family at the time of his passing.
David Michael Ott was born on November 12, 1953 in Davenport, a son of Robert G. and Mary C. (Hood) Ott. He was a 1972 graduate of Davenport Central High School. Dave was united in marriage to Kim Horton, from that union they had two daughters.
Dave worked for Oscar Mayer and retired as a route salesman for Mid-Continent Bottlers Inc. Following surgery to remove brain tumors, Dave became part of the Handicapped Development Center family where he did rehabilitation and worked in various positions.
Dave was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Dittmer’s Social Club where he enjoyed the conversation and friendships as well as his Diet Dr. Pepper and Squirt. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and was thrilled to witness their 2016 World Series Championship during his lifetime. Dave was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren’s many wonderful accomplishments.
Dave is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law: Carrie (Jerry) DeVine and Buffy (Tim) O’Neill, all of Davenport; grandchildren: Payton, Ella, Keaton, and Avery; siblings: Tom (Jill) Ott, Nokomis, Florida, Steve (Laurie Denison) Ott, Bettendorf, nephew and nieces: Ryan (Megan) Ott, Jami Ott Sergeant, Jodi (Mike) Arp, and Kara Ott, his large extended family that comprised Cel’s Gang, and a dear lifelong friend, Marietta Smeaton.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Jane Ott. May they rest in peace.
The Ott family would like to thank the nurses and staff at West Wing for all of the compassionate and loving care they shared with David.
