Funeral services to celebrate the life of David Alan Jay, Jr., 38, of Davenport, will be 11 a.m. Friday, November 4, 2022 at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. David died unexpectedly Friday, October 28, 2022 in Davenport.
David Alan Jay, Jr. was born on August 14, 1984 in Moline, IL, a son of Lynette Hernandez and David Alan Jay, Sr. He graduated from Davenport Central High School in 2002. David married Sarah “Sadie” Sproule in 2009. David had been a sous chef at area restaurants.
David had a very loving soul and was kind to everyone he met. He was proud of his Native American heritage, being a member of the Apache tribe of Oklahoma. He loved spending time with family and was especially proud of his son, Lucas. He also loved to play and create music with his guitar or playing the drums.
Survivors include his son, Lucas Jay, mother, Lynette Hernandez, father, David Jay, Sr., siblings: Thomas Hernandez and Paige (Thomas) King, nephew Victor, grandparents: Mary and Larry Hernandez, and Dawn Jay and other close family including special cousin, Michael Hernandez, half-sisters Peta, Jayce, and Erica Jay, and many other aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by great grandparents Delores and Phil Blodgett, grandparents Paul Nesahkluah Jay, Sr. and Juanita Jay, great aunt Peggy Alatorre, aunt Tracy Blodgett Butler, uncle Justin Nesahkluah, and cousins Rodney Alatorre and Steven Hernandez III.
