David Gales

Funeral services celebrating the life of David Lee Gales, 58, of Rock Island, will be 11am Monday, March 15, 2021 at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, 614 N. Main St, Davenport.  Burial will be private.  Visitation will from 10am until time of service at the funeral home.  Face masks and social distancing are required for all events.  A livestream of the funeral service can be viewed, and online remembrances expressed at www.hmdfuneralhome.com.  Memorials may be made to the family.

Mr. Gales passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2021, at Genesis East Medical Center in Davenport.

David was born June 29, 1962 to Oliver and Molly Hannah (Harrington) Gales in Louisville, MS. He later graduated from Davenport Central High School. David attended active-duty training with the U.S Army in 1983 and served for six years.

He was employed as a machine operator and fork lift driver at Black Hawk Foundry for over 15 years. He then worked for Goodwill of the Heartland from 2011 until recently when illness forced him to retire.  David’s hobbies included music, cars, and most importantly, spending time with family.

David will be missed by his daughter, April (Levar) Crawford; stepchildren: Anthony and John Hodges; his father, Oliver Gales; grandchildren: Anaysia, Anthony, Lemar, Liyah; and siblings: Lyndon Gales, Trina Gales-Smith, Wanda Hardwick, Al (Terri) Johnson, Bruce Johnson, Sharon Morgan, Brenda (Charles) Jones, Fred (Regina) Hannah Jr, Ida Paten, and Pearline Patty; and a host of loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Molly Hannah; stepfather, Fred Hannah; and brothers, Clyde Edwards and Mosley Lee Patty.  May they rest in peace.
