Dave died Friday, October 7, 2022 at Genesis East, Davenport.

David Allen King was born on May 8, 1953 in Davenport, a son of George and Eileen (Hart) King.  He graduated from Davenport Assumption High School in 1971.  Dave was a constant at Assumption for the past 55 years.

“A stranger is just a friend I haven’t met yet.” This sums up the life of Fred. Yes, to his immediate family he was Fred; to the DMV or any other legal entity, he was David Allen; to everyone else he was Dave; not David or Mr. King; just Dave.  His friendship knew no bounds and his generosity knew no limits. Just look to his association with Assumption High School to see proof of that. Helping coach Murphy with the field or calling in favors for lights, he got it done. All because someone asked Dave. Need a scoreboard? Ask Dave. Something broke? Ask Dave. If he couldn’t fix it, he either knew someone who could, or he knew someone who knew someone who could. That’s how he got things done. Don’t talk about it, just get it done. That was his sphere of influence. We can all remember someone or something he made better. We all can recall a good “Dave story”. 55 years of helping leaves that impression on people. So please take a moment to REMEMBER....FRED, DAVID, or DAVE.

Dave was a lifetime member of Sacred Heart Cathedral.  He had worked at Roto Rooter, Palmer, and Home Hardware.  He enjoyed coaching and will be laid to rest with a whistle in his hand!  Besides being a constant Assumption Knight supporter, Dave cheered for the Fighting Bees, Cubs, Hawks, and the Chiefs.

Among survivors are his siblings: Mary Myers, Tom, Don (MaDolores), Kevin (Kathy), Bill (Glenda) and Patricia King, nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews as well as the Assumption Family.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
