Daniel J. Rocha, 64, of Geneseo, Illinois, peacefully drifted into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on November 5, 2021.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11AM Friday, November 19, 2021 at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home in Davenport. A luncheon will follow at Faith Baptist Church, 10560 Wolf Road Geneseo, IL. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 18th from 4-7 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to Camp Manitoumi, Lowpoint, IL or Boys and Girls Club of Rock Island.
Born on December 20, 1956 in Davenport, son of Alexander “Cono” and Mary (née Garcia) Rocha, he grew up in Davenport, graduating from Central High School in 1975.
Dan worked as a Tool & Die Maker at Swan Engineering from 1976 to 1983. In 1984, he worked as a sales representative at John Hancock, where he met and married JoAnne (née Nelson) in 1985. Daniel rounded out his employment with a 33-year career at Group O, as a Project Manager, retiring in 2018.
Community involvement was important to Dan. As an active member at Faith Baptist Church, Geneseo, Illinois, for 39 years, he volunteered as Youth Leader, Sunday School Teacher, and Song Leader. Having a heart for the ministry of Camp Manitoumi, Dan volunteered at Camp for more than 25 years, filling various roles including Counselor, Activities Director, and Dean, assisting with various building and remodeling projects, and serving on the Camp Board. He volunteered with Junior Achievement and Boys & Girls Club of Rock Island and was involved as Assistant Basketball Coach at East Moline Christian School from 2001-2008.
Dan’s unswerving dedication to the Lord, fierce love of family, and indelible work ethic was the foundation of his life and leadership. Throughout his life, Dan reflected God’s grace and mercy to every life he touched. Ever the jokester and best storyteller, his quick wit and vibrant words brought life and laughter to every room.
Those left to honor his memory include his loving wife of 36 years, JoAnne; daughter, Nickole (Jeremy) Meierotto of Jacksonville, NC; sons, David Rocha and Jonathan (Julia) Rocha, both of Moline; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Carol; and his infant brother, David.
