Cynthia M. McCabe, 69, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2025 at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics.
Cindy was born on November 22, 1955 in Davenport, Iowa; the daughter of Eugene and Elizabeth (Mauget) McCabe. She attended the University of Iowa, where she played on the tennis team as the No 1 singles and doubles player as a freshman. She later obtained a Master’s in Business Administration at St. Ambrose University.
After a long career at the Rock Island Arsenal, Cindy turned her hobby of remodeling houses into a career in the real estate industry. She enjoyed years of success as an investor, a foreclosure specialist, and a realtor. She had a big heart and was an amazing caretaker to her parents and others in need. Above all she loved cats, and took in many that needed help, providing a loving home and medical care.
Those left to honor Cindy’s memory include her nieces and nephews; Eugene (Hillary) McCabe, Sarasota, FL, Elizabeth (Michael) Kostolansky, Lakewood Ranch, FL, Kathleen (Darrick) Douglas, Stamford, CT and Eileen (Keith) Giger, Arrington, TN; ten great nieces and nephews, Maggie (Alex) Post and Andrew McCabe, Timothy, Stephanie, and Emily Kostolansky, Eric, Abigail, and Emma Douglas and Alex (Sarah) and Matthew (Morgan) Giger; and one great great niece, Maria Catalina Douglas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Patricia Roosa and her beloved brother Eugene McCabe.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at 10:30 am at Holy Family Catholic Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services beginning at 9:30 am at Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Kings Harvest Animal shelter.
