Funeral services to Celebrate the Life of Clinton Stewart, 83, a resident of Davenport will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 28, 2018 at Progressive Baptist Church, Davenport. Burial will be at Pine Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Services entrusted to Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home.
Clinton went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 21, 2018.
Clinton was born November 16, 1935 in Preston, Mississippi, a twin son of Herbert and Ceatrice (Liddell) Stewart. He was united in marriage to Annie Myrtle Cox December 22, 1959.
He had worked 25 years at John Deere, Moline Works, retiring in 1993. Clinton was a member of Progressive Baptist Church and became an ordained deacon in 1978. He enjoyed spending time with his family, telling stories of his youth, watching westerns and the Chicago Cubs.
Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Annie and their children; Kathy (Richard) Lee, Davenport, Norman Stewart, San Diego, California, Verlina (Danny) Howard, Sr., Davenport, Margaret (Abraham) Stewart-White, Summerville, South Carolina, Elaine Stewart, Davenport; 20 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; his sisters, MaeRose Hickman, Rock Island, Rosie Robertson, Dekalb, Mississippi, Mammie Mack, W. Memphis, Arkansas and brother Timothy Stewart, Preston, Mississippi.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, twin brother, Leonard, James, Earlene “Billie” Parks, Ruthie Lee Stewart, Napoleon Stewart and a grandson, Reginald White.
