Clifford Martin

A gathering to celebrate the life of Cliff Martin, 68, a resident of Davenport will be 3:00 until 8:00 pm Monday, December 10, 2018 at the Knights of Columbus, 1111 W. 35th Street, Davenport. Per his wish the rite of cremation has been accorded.
Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home is assisting his family with arrangements.
Cliff died unexpectedly Thursday, December 6, 2018 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, Davenport.

Clifford Charles Martin was born August 31, 1950 in Davenport a son of John Robert and Mary Lorraine (McElroy) Martin.  He was a 1968 graduate of Davenport Central High.

Cliff began a 50-plus year career in the dental prosthetic industry.  He started while still attending high school.  He eventually acquired his CDT (Certified Dental Technician) degree and established his own business Great River Dental Studio in 1996.  He retired in July 2017.

He was united in marriage to Susan Kleikamp in 1987 in Davenport

He was a Life Member of the Knights of Columbus, Loras Council, 532 Davenport, and was a dedicated and active member.  He was a past Grand Knight, served numerous offices and was currently the president of the Columbus Club.

Cliff was an avid sports fan, and enjoyed the K of C bowling and golf leagues.  He was a loyal Iowa Hawkeye, Chicago Cubs, and Chicago Bears fan.  He had a good sense of humor and occasionally enjoyed a debate or some friendly arguing!  He was passionate in his beliefs.  Cliff loved his family and was proud of his son and cherished his grandson.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Knights of Columbus for a future memorial in his honor or to the Handicapped Development Center.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife Sue of Davenport; son Cameron Martin and grandson Connor Martin both of Woodward, Iowa; sisters, Amy (Bill) Kellenberger, Davenport, Di (Bob) Hester, Antelope, CA, and Martha (Ed) Schlue, Davenport; brothers, Phillip (Ellen) Martin, Bettendorf, Vincent (Jan) Martin, Platteville, WI, Mathew (Karen) Martin, Davenport, Christopher Martin (Lisa Horneck), Davenport, Joe (Shelly) Martin, Iowa City, IA; many loving nieces and nephews; and his faithful felines, JJ and Katy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, John, and brothers, Donald “Rick” Martin and Robert “Steven” Martin.
