Clifford J. Artis, 75, of Davenport, died unexpectedly, Sunday, May 24, 2020 at Genesis Medical Center. East Campus, Davenport. In accordance with the current health crisis, a private Celebration of Life Service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 1, 2020 at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Public viewing will be held from 9:30 AM to 11AM prior to the service at the funeral home. Clifford’s service will be live-streamed., and can be viewed by visiting his obituary at www.hmdfuneralhome.com and clicking the link at the bottom. Burial will be in Oakdale Memorial Gardens, Davenport. Memorials may be made to Judy Artis.
Clifford James Artis was born on October 3, 1944, in Indianapolis, Indiana, a son of Theodore Roosevelt and Mary Jane (Redix) Artis. He was united in marriage to Judy Littlejohn on August 22, 1970. Clifford was an Electrical Engineer working with the Corps. of Engineers and later at the Davenport School System. He treasured his children, grandchildren and loving wife and embraced every moment with them. He enjoyed chess, tutoring young people and bowling.
Survivors include his loving wife of over 40 years, Judy and their children: Selena (Shanti) Green, Atlanta, Georgia, and David Artis, Sr., Davenport, and a grandson, David James Artis, Jr. his mother and father in-law, Robert (Geneva) Littlejohn, Indianapolis; and his siblings, Shirley Brewer, Indianapolis, Bertha Brooks, Ft. Worth, Texas, Theodosia Billups, Decatur, Georgia, Elsie (Ted) Siddle, Indianapolis, Annette Denny, Phoenix, Arizona, Emma Jean Artis, Clarksville, Tennessee, and Tyrone (Sherrill Artis, Indianapolis; his in-laws, Joyce (James) Reese, NewYork, Robin (Irwin) Lawrence, Indiana, and Dennis (Julia) Littlejohn, Pheoenix, Arizona, as well as numerous loving nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Mildred McMiller and three brothers, Theodore, John and Jerome Artis.
