Clarence W. “CW” Riley, Jr, 73, of Davenport, passed away Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf. Per his wish the rite of cremation will be accorded.
The family will greet friends from 1-4pm Sunday, February 6, at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Due to the ongoing pandemic, masks are suggested. A memorial service will be held at 10am on Monday, February 7, at the funeral home and will be livestreamed. Inurnment will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island, with military honors. Clarence William Riley was born August 29, 1948, in New Orleans, a son of Clarence Riley, Sr and Jeanette (Brown) Thompson. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Jane Norman, in 2002 in Rock Island.
He was a Vietnam Veteran of the Army, serving from 1966 – 1969.
Prior to his retirement, CW worked on offshore oil rigs for Exxon. After he retired, he followed his love of music and played rub board in several Zydeco bands, traveling the globe.
He loved spending time with his family and friends. He was very active in his grandchildren’s sporting activities, especially with the Mississippi Valley Track Club. When he was younger, he coached football and Little League. He loved to golf and was an avid fan of the New Orleans Saints. “Who dat?”
Memorials may be made to the Mississippi Valley Track Club.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife Jane; children Clarence (Crystal) Riley III of Thibodaux, LA, Saquanta Riley of Bettendorf, Devon Riley and Tyler Riley both of LaFayette, LA, Tommy Martin of Costa Mesa, CA, and Vanessa Washington of Memphis, TN; grandchildren Brittany, Jodeci, Jasmenne, Benny IV, Clarence IV, Devrin, Kardez, Layla, Kaizer, Kamani, Kamri; five great grandchildren; siblings Sheila Jones, Connie (Stanley) Reed, Paulette (Paul) Turpeau, Kelsir Streams, all of Thibodaux, Floyd (Debra) Streams Jr, Willard “Steve” Streams, and Bruce Streams all of Houston.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Ronnie Edwards, and granddaughter Chazmin Carter.
