Christie Lee Risley, 72, of Davenport, passed away, Saturday, September 28, 2024 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus.
Per her wishes cremation rites have been accorded and a Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, November 3, 2024 from 1:00 – 3:00 pm at the Masonic Center, 511 Veterans Memorial Parkway. Memorials may be made to Camp Courageous, No Time To Spare Animal Rescue, or Kings Harvest Animal Shelter.
Christie was born on July 22, 1952 in Davenport, daughter of Lee and Patricia (Halligan) Grosstick. She was united in marriage to Russell Risley.
Christie attended St. Alphonsus Catholic School and Frank L. Smart Jr. High. She graduated from West High School in 1970 and went on to attend Scott Community College. Christie was employed by the Rock Island Arsenal for approximately 20 years in various departments. She enjoyed working with the Corps of Engineers, the paint department and finally the Security office. As a child, Christie attended St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and as an adult she attended St. Paul Lutheran Church in Davenport, Iowa. She had a creative heart and enjoyed painting, poetry, crochet and quilting. She was dedicated to collecting all the soft and cuddly fabric she could. Christie was fiercely loyal to family and had an unending love of animals, birds, bees and flowers. She and her husband, Russ, were actively supporting “No Time to Spare Animal Rescue” along with Tony and Carol Risley in Warrenton, Missouri.
Those left to honor her memory include her spouse of 33 years Russell Risley; brother Mark (Debbie) Kroeger of Bonita Springs, Florida; sister Mary (Michael) Grosstick Hall of Rockford, Illinois; children John (Shawna) Stein, Deann Hyatt, Daryl (Jennifer) Hyatt, Tony (Carol/Boots) Risley and Azure (Jeramy Johnson) Stein; grandchildren Madison Tucker, Kaitlyn Tucker, Shelby Hyatt, Christopher Hyatt, Kiersten Stein, Jace Stein, Grayson Stein, Dustin Risley, Wyatt Risley and Orion Stein; and sister by choice Sandy Schmidt.
