Charlette Marie (Carr) Evans (1957-2024)
Charlette Marie (Carr) Evans, 66, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2024, surrounded by loved ones after a courageous battle with leukemia. A devoted wife, mother, Mimi, sister, and friend, she will be deeply missed.
Born September 25, 1957, in Liberal, Kansas, to Willard Henry and Lilla (Morlan) Carr, Charlette graduated from Liberal High School in 1975. While attending the University of Tulsa, she met her future husband, Jeff. Recognizing they were meant to be (Jeff sooner than Charlette), they were married June 18, 1977. Charlette transferred to Marycrest College, earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1980. Her dedication to learning continued with a Master of Science in Nursing from St. Ambrose University in 2007.
Charlette's 40-year nursing career at Genesis Health System was marked by passion and excellence. Recognized for her outstanding care, she received the 100 Great Nurses award in 2013 and the Genesis Legend award in 2018. She retired as the Chief Nursing Officer at Genesis in August of 2020.
Charlette cherished spending time with family and friends. Her hobbies included traveling, plants, birdwatching, playing cards, and cooking and baking. She especially enjoyed being a part of every aspect of her grandchildren’s lives.
Charlette is survived by her husband, Jeff Evans; daughter, Jennifer (Brian Vitti) Smith; son, Justin (Amy) Evans; grandchildren, Evan and Lilla Smith, and Cole and Mason Fisher; brothers, Dennis (Tammy) Carr and Scott (Laurie) Carr; and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family. Preceding her in death are her parents, brothers Trent and Rodney Carr.
Visitation will be held on Friday March 8th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home in Davenport. The funeral will be held on Saturday, March 9th, at 10:00 AM, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
