Charles Morrissey

September 23, 1933 — February 3, 2021

Charles R. Morrissey, 87, a resident of Davenport, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at Senior Star in Davenport, surrounded by his family.  Per his wishes, there will be no public service or visitation at this time.  The family will have a private service and burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island, Illinois.  Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Our Lady of Lourdes Parish.  Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Charles Robert Morrissey was born September 23, 1933 in Brooklyn, New York, a son of James Phillip and Helen (Lintozzi) Morrissey. He served his country in the US Army.  He earned a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from New York University Tandon School of Engineering and was a Mechanical Engineer for the City of New York.  He was part of a team that worked to remove the remains of the World Trade Center after 9/11.  Charles was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and enjoyed playing Chess.

Those left to honor Charles’s memory include his children:  Sara O’Callaghan, Bettendorf and Deirdre Scholar, Santa Cruz, California; grandchildren:  Phoebe Scholar, Violet Scholar and Kaitlin Trainor; and nieces and nephews:  Maureen Ancona, Jimmy Morrissey and Kieran Morrissey.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, James P. Morrissey, Jr. and aunt, Marie Lintozzi.
