Charlene Ludmila Miller passed away early Sunday at Genesis Hospital; February 25, 2024, due to declining health; she was 96 years old. She was happily married for 71 years to John Miller, who passed away in December 2020. Additionally, she was preceded in death by her sister Vivian, brother Charles, and her daughters Beth Ann and Marie. She is survived by her sons, Ed, Tom, and Charlie and grandson Edmund, granddaughter Catie, and a sister, Marie. A service and visitation will be at Holy Family Church on Thursday, March 7, 2024, starting at 10:30 am with the family receiving friends from 9:30 am until time of services. Charlene maintained charitable contributions to groups serving the needy; in lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Catholic Charities USA. Burial service will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Davenport.
Charlene was born in St. Louis, MO on January 9th, 1928. Her father tragically died when she was seven years old. With her mother, she moved to Davenport to seek a new start. She attended the Immaculate Conception Academy. Along with John, she was active at Holy Family Church, a founding member of the choir and active in parish activities. Charlene was interested in literature, classical music, visual design, and fashion design, taking courses at St. Ambrose and Marycrest colleges. She and her husband were regularly seen ballroom dancing, well into their 70’s. She was a consummate homemaker and baker and lovingly provided daily and personal care for her children.
