Carolyn S. Wilson, age 83, of Davenport, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2023 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus. According to her wishes, cremation will take place and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport assisted the family with arrangements.
Carolyn was born on September 29, 1939 in Winchester, IN, to Gerald and Dora (Bradburn) Lemon. Carolyn owned and operated Mary Sue Café for over 40 years, often feeding the homeless and giving in so many other ways. The restaurant was her hobby, but in her spare time she played the piano, organ, and accordion. She loved her family dearly, as well as her many pets over the years.
Survivors include her children, Rachel Smead, Dale (Jennifer) Miller, Dawn (Terry) Peppers, Karla (Mike) Seamer, and Michella (Patrick) Clark; grandchildren, Tim Smead, Briana (Josh Manes) Smead, Colleen Miller, Marisa (Tyler) Brown, Brandie (Justin) Hopkins, Dustin Miller, Scott (Gladys) McClanahan, Amber Peppers, Chris (Courtney) McClanahan, Jill Troyer, Amy Walker, and Bailey Troyer; several great-grandkids, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by a son, Danny Miller; daughter, Gail White, granddaughter, Ann Marie Smead; great-grandkids, Skylar, Isabella, Jayden, and Carson Smead, former husband, Jerry Wilson.
