Carolyn Joyce Krumbholz

          Carolyn Joyce Krumbholz, 86, a resident of Davenport, died Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.

          A Memorial Service Celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Davenport. Burial will be at Fairmount Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be made to Handicapped Development Center or Lutheran Services in Iowa. Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home in Davenport is assisting the family with arrangements.

          Carolyn was born January 14, 1936 in Fairfield, Iowa, the daughter of Leonard and Violet (Six) Monson. She was a graduate of Parson’s College in Fairfield. Carolyn married Byrd G. Krumbholz, January 27, 1957 in Fairfield. He preceded her in death April 8, 2019.

          Carolyn was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church where she was actively involved. She enjoyed puzzles, playing cards, bridge clubs, and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. She had a love for music and was an excellent seamstress. A couple of Carolyn’s fun accomplishments were participating in The State of Iowa Brain Derby while in elementary school and making 2 holes-in-one while golfing two weeks apart from the other, which cost her and Byrd two rounds of drinks at the club. Carolyn loved making others happy, and cherished her time spent with family, especially in Okaloosa Island, Florida. Things are going to play different without you, Mom.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Kimberly (Timothy) Barton and Jennifer Dillie of Davenport; grandchildren, Rev. Kyle (Alexandra) Barton, Dr. Natalie (Nicholas Kendell) Del Vecchio, and Spencer Barton; and great grandchildren, Charlotte and Hugo Barton.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; and son, Mark.
