Carolyn J. (DeVine) Chambers, 78, a resident of Bettendorf, died Thursday, December 22, 2022 at Iowa Masonic Health Facilities in Bettendorf with her family by her side.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home in Davenport. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to King’s Harvest Pet Rescue.
Carolyn was born February 22, 1944 in Davenport, the daughter of Ross Stanley and Thelma Marguerite (Miller) DeVine. She was a 1962 graduate of Bettendorf High School.
Carolyn worked as an assistant for Abel-Keppy Animal Hospital in Bettendorf and served as the director of the Quad City Animal Welfare Center in Milan. She was an animal lover, not only adopting many animals herself, but found homes for countless other animals. She enjoyed drawing and painting. Carolyn was a second mom to many of her son’s friends.
Those left to honor her memory include her son and daughter-in-law, Kyle and Stephanie Chambers of Bettendorf; grandchildren, Addison and Isaac Chambers; sister, Jan (William) Cook of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin; and sister-in-law, Mary DeVine of Rock Island.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Donald DeVine.
Carolyn’s family would like to thank the staff at the Iowa Masonic Home for their loving care and support.
