Carol May Smith - Arguello

Carol May Smith - Arguello, 78, of Davenport, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at her home.

 

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm until the time of services at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Holy Family Cemetery, Davenport. Memorials may be made to Babe Arguello. 

 

Carol was born on July 16, 1946, in Davenport, the daughter of David Henry Smith and Maxine Feeney. She spent the last 19 years with the love of her life, Babe Arguello. 

 

Carol attended school at The Villa de Chantal and later went on to become a private nurse for the late John Wayne’s mother, Mrs. Preme. She then went on to work the next 13 years for Red Jacket before moving to Phoenix, Arizona and eventually retiring from Honeywell (NASA).

 

Carol enjoyed playing Bingo, going to the casino, baking and watching westerns. She also found joy in making handmade jewelry and other crafts and was a Betty Boop lover. She enjoyed going to dances and listening to the Oldies.

 

Those left to honor her memory include her significant other Babe Arguello; brothers, Tom Smith and Butch Feeney; children Pamela “Yo-yo” Winrow, Jim “Jim Boy” and his wife Heather, and her baby Beau Wesley Allen; stepchildren Chris & Julie, Steve & Alisha, Chad & Angie, Rick & Michelle, Brian & Rebecca, Joshua & Rachel, Nicole Arguello and Damian & Rebeka Harvey; grandchildren Amber (Paasch) Haines, Sarah (Winrow) & her husband Spencer “Smoky” Ripperger, Landon Winrow, Josie, Hayley, Nakia Allen, Mariah Rose and her sweet Baby Ray and many more. Carol also fostered children and has many great grandchildren. 

 

Additionally, she is survived by friends Louise Blumer, Genevieve Alatorre, Sharon Palmer, Pam Lorenz, and lifelong best friend Judy Martin.

 

She was preceded in death by both her parents, her brother Larry Smith and Renae Rose.
