Carman Charles Conklin, age 83, of Blue Grass, passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at his home. Services will be held at 11:00 am, on Friday, May 17, 2024, at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. The family will greet friends from 10:00 am, until the time of the service. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Buffalo. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family or St. Jude’s.
Carman was born on August 12, 1940, in Davenport, to Bernard and Angelus Katherine (Williams) Conklin. He was united in marriage to Ellen Loetz on July 12, 1978, in Las Vegas. Carman first worked for the City of Davenport as a fireman from 1967 to 1980. He then went on to become a journeyman plumber for 26 years where he retired in 2005.
Carman was very generous with his time which showed in his love for being a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved being around people, telling his jokes, and being the life of the party. He looked forward to vacationing with his family and watching the Hawkeyes with them and his friends.
Survivors include his wife, Ellen; son, Darrin Conklin of Davenport; daughters, Lori (Dave) Owens, Traci (Bobbie) Blake, and Michelle (Seth) Korver all of Davenport; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Terry (Sandy) Conklin of Davenport; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Carman was preceded in death by a sister, Delores Tovrea; brothers, Donnie Conklin, Curtis Conklin, and David Conklin.
The family asks that you wear casual attire or your favorite Hawkeye clothing.
