Clarence “Carl” Fleetwood, 80, of Davenport, died Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center, Rockford, Illinois
The family will greet friends from 12 until 2 p.m. Monday, October 14, 2024 at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport followed by committal services at Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the family to establish a memorial at a later date for Carl.
Clarence Fleetwood was born on October 24, 1943 in Magdalena, New Mexico, a son of Clabe and Grace (Roberts) Fleetwood. He was united in marriage to Judith “Judy” York on December 10, 1962 at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Davenport. They have shared over 62 years of marriage.
Carl worked as a line supervisor at the Case Company until he retired in 1985. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to owning/operating the White Market and the Cedar Street Inn as well as other entrepreneurial endeavors.
He had been a past member of the Moose Lodge. Carl was a pool shark, known locally for his incredible talent, he played in many leagues during his lifetime, as well as hustled a few games to support his young family! Carl also enjoyed bowling, fishing, camping, and boating on the Muddy Mississippi. He had a kind spirit and was always happy whenever you encountered him.
Those left to honor his memory are his wife, Judy, Davenport; sons: Bill (Eileen Helbig) Fleetwood, Blue Grass and Todd (Christine) Fleetwood, Davenport; ten grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren; siblings: Larry (Marilyn) Fleetwood, Davenport, Karen Sue (Jack) Sparbel, Davenport, Ronnie (Linda) Fleetwood, Davenport, a brother-in-law, Timothy Garrow, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Tammy Sue Fleetwood in 1963, a daughter, Laurie “Sissy” James in 1999, a daughter-in-law, Deb Fleetwood, his parents, and a sister, Barbara Garrow.
