Bryan L. Yost

September 23, 1963 — November 3, 2022

Bettendorf, Iowa

Bryan Leigh Yost was born in Morrison, Illinois on September 23, 1963, to Sandra (Durward) Yost and Lloyd Yost. He took his last breath on November 3, 2022. His first five years were spent in Champaign, Illinois while his father attended law school. From there, the family moved to Morrison, Illinois where they lived through Bryan’s eighth-grade year. In 1977, they moved to Bettendorf, Iowa where Bryan attended Pleasant Valley High School. Upon graduation in 1981, he attended the University of Iowa, but after a year, he left for other pursuits that took him to the West Coast. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and went to work as an IT professional in California. He married his high school sweetheart, Pam Parker, in 1987. They returned to Bettendorf in 1990 and were divorced shortly after their return. However, Bryan happily lived the rest of his life in Bettendorf. In December 1999, he met Joan Stickrod when they worked together at John Deere Insurance. Bryan quickly decided Joan was the one, and they were married one year later in December 2000. Bryan and Joan have two beautiful daughters, Taylor (24) and Gibson (21). Except for his brief time at Deere, Bryan worked most of his IT career for BITCO Insurance Company in Davenport, Iowa (formerly Bituminous Insurance in Rock Island, Illinois) until he retired in 2021.

Bryan was a man of eclectic tastes! His favorite professional football team was the Miami Dolphins since their undefeated season in 1972, and he was a loyal LA Dodgers fan. He was an avid softball player for many years, and a lifetime golfer who played in a league during his adult life. In his younger years, he played bass guitar and developed a passion for all types of music. He will be remembered for his epic Fantasy Football draft parties. Bryan also owned a Harley Davidson Softail, which was one of the loves of his life. He cherished riding with his buddies on a beautiful day. When at home relaxing, he was likely watching an old Western or a classic black and white movie. At Christmas, his favorite time of year, he could often be found in pajama pants watching “It’s a Wonderful Life” over and over. He loved oysters on the half-shell and a great steak, but he was also never one to turn down a cheap taco. Bryan had a sweet tooth second to none, and

he had stashes of his favorite candies all over his house. Aside from his home, the place he loved most was Sunrise Golf Course where you would find him on a bar stool surrounded by some of his favorite people on the planet. He could often be seen exhibiting some of his “dance” moves there too.

The people who will miss Bryan include his wife and daughters, his father, his sister Michelle Yost Fink (Kevin), former brother-in-law Kevin Belsey, his nieces Parley, Lauren, and Hayley Belsey, his sister-in-law Jackie Nelson (Jim) and nephews Jeff (Candace), Jeremy (Jessica) and Kyle Marple, brother-in-law Jay Stickrod (Ronna), nephews Jason (Elise) and Justin Stickrod, and niece Stephanie Stickrod (Matt Worthen). Bryan will also be missed by so many friends whom he loved with his whole heart. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sandra Yost, and his father-in-law, Cleveland Stickrod.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Sunrise Golf Course clubhouse starting at 11:30 am on Sunday, November 6, where we will watch the Miami Dolphins take on the Chicago Bears while we celebrate a life well-lived. So, wear your football gear and your drinking shoes!
