Brett L. Bunge

Brett L. Bunge, 50, of Moline, died unexpectedly on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at MercyOne-Genesis Medical Center, Davenport following cardiac complications.

Memorial services to celebrate Brett’s life will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Visitation will be held from 4 until 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Keeping with Brett’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials may be made to the family.

Brett Lawrence Bunge was born on January 24, 1974 in Moline, Illinois, a son of Craig and Gail Harper) Bunge. He graduated from West High School in 1992 and later attended truck driving school at Scott Community College. He was united in marriage to Stacey (Johnson) Welch on February 20, 2010 in Colona, Illinois.

Brett’s first job during high school was at Harlan’s Restaurant until he went to trucking school and got a job with a firm out of West Branch, Iowa. Brett’s latest employment was as a warehouseman with Consolidated Freight.

Brett enjoyed attending concerts, both rock and country, his corgi dogs, Stich, Sora, Rusty, and Phoenix, as well as reading and playing video games. 

Those left to honor his memory are his wife, Stacey, Moline; stepchildren: Brandon Colley and Tayler Welch; father, Craig Bunge, Davenport; brothers, Brandon Bunge, Rock Island and Byron (Melanie) Bunge, Bettendorf; nephew, Chase Bunge; mother-in-law, Shirley Johnson, Moline, and many extended family.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Gail; and grandparents, Lawrence and Doris Harper and Lester and Madeline Bunge. May they rest in peace.
