Brenda "Big B" McGowan

Brenda Ann McGowan, 57, of Davenport, affectionately known to friends and family as “Big B” passed away Sunday, July 14th, 2024, at Genesis East Hospital, Davenport, from heart complications.

Brenda was born March 14, 1967, in Sunflower, MS, to the late Johnny B. Mosley and Ruby Lee McGowan. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Third Missionary Baptist Church. She worked as Head of Housekeeping until her early retirement due to her health. She was a loving mother, devoted sister, cherished grandmother, a ride or die auntie, and a dear friend to many. 

Those left to honor her memory includes her seven children Adrian McGowan, Brian Shell, Yolanda Nunn, Justin McGowan, Zachery Nunn, Ciara & Tiara Nunn; seven siblings Robert McGowan, Patricia McGowan, Michael McGowan, Dawayne McGowan, Kennesha McGowan, Latanya Mosley and Fleurette Mosley; and a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by many. 

She was proceeded in death by both her parents; sisters Gloria Mosley and Lolita Malone; aunts Gloria McGowan, Susie Barry, Annie Cook and Dorthy Harris; uncles Robert McGowan and Ruben McGowan; niece Kimberly Battie; and great nephew Tyrell Nelson.

Visitation will be at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, 614 N. Main St, Davenport, on Saturday, July 27, 2024, from 11am until the funeral starts at Noon. Burial will be held privately at Pine Hill Cemetery, Davenport. Memorials may be made to the family.
