Brenda Gathing

Funeral services celebrating the life of Brenda Gathing, 71, of Davenport, will be held at Noon on Friday, April 11, 2025, at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation will be from 11am until time of services on Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.

Ms. Gathing passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2025, surrounded by family at her home.

Brenda Jean March was born January 27, 1954, in Friars Point, MS, the only daughter of Henry and Luella (McDonald) March. She was united in marriage to Raymond Gathing Sr, and he preceded her in death.

Prior to her retirement, Brenda had worked as an Intake Social Worker for the Salvation Army.

She enjoyed reading, sewing, word search puzzles, cooking, playing softball and basketball when she was a child, cheering for the Green Bay Packers, and helping others. She loved her family deeply and enjoyed the time spent with them, especially her grandchildren. Brenda was a registered daycare provider and opened her home to anyone in need no matter their ability to pay.

Those left to honor her memory include her life partner of over 35 years, Carl Seals; children Brennette March, Cynthia (Tony) Gathing-Morrow, Raymond Gathing Jr, John Gathing, all of Davenport; stepchildren Beverly (Ronald) Dixon) of Memphis, TN, Carla Seals and Tina Seals of Davenport, Shonda Mettulus of Winter Haven, FL; 16 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; goddaughter Regina Randolph of Davenport; godson Steve Evans; and many loving extended family members.

Additionally, she was preceded in death by son Tony March, granddaughter Raven Gathing, great grandson Caiden Loehr, brothers Leon March, Frankie March Sr, and parents.
