Beverly Henkel

Beverly A. Henkel, 81, a resident of Davenport passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at University of Iowa Hospitals, Iowa City.

Funeral services and a Mass of Christian Burial for Beverly will be held Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 516 Fillmore Street, Davenport. Visitation is Saturday at church prior to mass from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. Honoring Beverly’s wishes, cremation rites will take place following services. Memorials may be made to the Beverly A. Henkel Memorial Fund to benefit St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the PCDH19 Alliance. Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home assisted her family with arrangements.

Beverly Ann Derby was born September 22, 1936 in Dubuque, Iowa to Lee and Delphine (Betz) Derby. She was united in marriage to John R. Henkel on November 29, 1958. He preceded her in death November 15, 2009. Bev had an undying love and devotion for John and her family. In recent years she was able to use her time and talents to make dresses for the under privileged girls in Haiti. She was an active parishioner at St. Mary’s and enjoyed her bible study group. She felt blessed to be able to attend her grandchildren’s school and sporting events.

Survivors include her children and spouses, Mary, Richard (Crystal), Lance, Nanette, (Dennis), Robert, Maria (Mark), Joseph (Sharon), Kurt (Leslie); 30 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Taina; her sister-in-law Jean and brother-in-law, Paul, as well as numerous loving extended family and close friends .

Her parents, children Diana and John, grandchildren Andrew, Stacey and Estelle, a sister Janaan Fink, and two brothers Lee and Bill preceded her in death. May they rest in peace.
