Beverly Ann Beirne Eckert, 93, of Bettendorf, passed away peacefully at the Clarissa Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, on March 11, 2024. Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 4097 18th St, Bettendorf, with visitation from 10 am until time of services. The Mass will be livestreamed and viewed at www.facebook.com/sjvbett. Private burial will be at National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal.
Beverly was born November 5, 1930, in Watertown, SD, a daughter of Floyd and Bernice (Van Natta) Beirne, and raised in Herrin, IL. She graduated from Herrin High School and Southern Illinois University with a BS in Education. She married Paul L. Eckert on August 16, 1952, and they celebrated 68 years together at the time of his passing.
Beverly was actively involved in the community throughout her many years, enjoying Catholic Service Board, PEO (Chapter IB), reading voraciously, and loved playing bridge.
She was a mom to twins, grandma to twins, and great grandma to twins! Her most important and favorite roles were being a wife and mother.
Survivors include her children Marcia (Doug) Otte, Dallas, TX, Michael (Lisa) Eckert, Edina, MN, Sally (Don) Tourte, Clive, IA, Susan (Tom) Bush, Davenport; thirteen grandchildren; and twenty great grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank all the wonderful healthcare providers who assisted in Bev’s care, including the Fountains and the Clarissa Cook Hospice House.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Clarissa Cook Hospice House or the St. Joan of Arc Foundation for the construction of the new Catholic grade school in Bettendorf.
