Barry A. Petersen, 53, of Davenport, passed away Friday, October 5, 2018 at his home surrounded by family. A time to gather and celebrate his life will be held Tuesday, October 9, 2018 from 11a.m. until 1p.m. at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Inurnment will take place in Mt. Calvary Cemetery immediately following. Memorials may be made to the family.
Barry Allen Petersen was born on September 3, 1965 in Iowa, to Stanley Russell Fall and Linda Lou Strack. He was adopted by Linda’s twin, Lorna and her husband Harold Tarbox.
Barry worked at Oscar Mayer for over 30 years before retiring in 2016. He went back to work at Oscar Mayer with the Encore Program and worked until his diagnosis this past April.
Barry was united in marriage to Brenda L. (Groves) Jewell on May 3, 2008 in Davenport.
Barry was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a sports fanatic, rooting for the Chicago Bears and Wisconsin Badgers.
He loved his family, especially his grandchildren, and his faithful companion, Gizzmo!
Survivors include his wife, Brenda, daughters, Heather (Jeremy) Begle, all of Davenport, Audrea Barker, Iowa City, grandchildren, Ashley Barker, Moline, Lily Bates, Tennessee, Parker Bates, Davenport, and Jonah Paulsen, Iowa City; parents, Harold and Lorna Tarbox, Olin, Iowa, siblings: Terri Petersen, Tony (Heather) Petersen, Tina Sterbenz, and Heather Fall, all of Low Moor, Iowa, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his siblings Harold and Lori Tarbox.
