Barbara Stewart was born August 6, 1937 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, a daughter of Elmo and Josephine (Siegartner) Stewart. She married Jerry McMillan, Sr. in 1953 until his passing. She later married Eugene F. Tawney, Sr. in 1964.
Barb worked for many years at Wonder Bread. She most recently had worked for Addus HomeCare.
Barb adored her large family, especially her grandchildren. She was a diehard Denver Broncos fan, even naming her cat, Elway. She also was a Nascar fan especially the Earnhardts. She spent many of her birthdays at the Mississippi Valley Fair, loved to camp, and enjoyed playing darts.
Survivors include her children: Michael McMillan, Moline, Victoria (Mike) Aguirre, Pamela Aguirre, all of Davenport, Jerry C. (Sandra) McMillan, Jr., Knoxville, Tennessee, Eugene F. (Athena) Tawney, Jr., Davenport, and Annette (Jamie Banfield) Carmody, Eldridge; sixteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren with two on the way, and one great-great grandchild on the way; a brother, William Stewart, Illinois City, Illinois, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband Jerry, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Rik Aguirre, great-grandson, Rowan Joseph Aguirre, her parents, and a sister, Marilyn Bremer.
A special thank you to Barb’s granddaughter, Andy Eldredge-McMillan, who provided great care and comfort during the final chapter of Barb’s journey.
