Barbara L. Peters

Funeral services celebrating the life of Barbara L. Peters, 79, of Davenport, will be held at Noon on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport.  The rite of cremation will follow.  Visitation will be from 10am until the time of services Saturday at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to the family.

Mrs. Peters passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family.

Barbara Lee DeVore was born August 25, 1944, in Columbus Junction, IA, a daughter of Chester and Evelyn (Billings) DeVore.  She was united in marriage to Gerald “Jerry” Peters on September 2, 1961, in Davenport.  

Prior to her retirement she had been an executive assistant for a local nursing home.

She enjoyed reading, playing Bingo, occasional trips to the casino, gardening, and spending time with her large family.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Jerry; children and their spouses Gerald (Navis) Peters Jr, Teresa (Jack) Hayes all of Davenport, Thomas (Linda) Peters of Eldridge, Keli (Dan) Gillum of Davenport, Douglas (Jennifer) Peters of Eldridge, Anthony (Ami) Peters of Davenport; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; siblings Thomas (Kathy) DeVore of Orion, IL, Anne (Leroy) Tracey, Charles (Debbie) DeVore all of Davenport, Michael Laschanzky of Rock Island, and Christine (John) Khurt of Davenport.

She was preceded in death by son Timmy, sisters Linda Peters, Sandra DeVore, and her parents.  May they rest in peace.
