Barbara J. Bockenfeld

A Memorial Service to celebrate the life of Barbara J. Bockenfeld, 81, of Davenport, will be 10 a.m. Thursday, May 16, 2024 at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. She will be laid to rest at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation will be from 9 until 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.   Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.  Mrs. Bockenfeld died peacefully Friday, May 10, 2024 at home surrounded by family. 

Barbara Jean Concannon was born on June 7, 1942 in Davenport, a daughter of Lee B and Margaret (Ebbitt) Concannon.  She graduated from Davenport High in 1960 and completed a three-year business program at St. Ambrose College that she aced!  She enjoyed a twenty-year career with Iowa-Illinois Gas and Electric.

Barb was united in marriage to Frank W. Bockenfeld on September 22, 1990 in Davenport.   Barb was the “Sweetums” to her “Frankie.” They shared over 33 years of marriage together.

Barb was known for how beautifully she decorated her home for all seasons, but she especially loved Halloween. She was very creative and was known for her stitching she did on plastic canvas, creating tissue box covers. Barb also loved to read and had an extensive library.  She was a member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church and a part of Ride the River for over 10 years. 

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Frank, Davenport; bonus children: Skip Bockenfeld and Bonnie K. Wills; grandchildren: Tarrah (Jared) Beard, Selah (Satch) Baldwin, and Elikah (Max Rodriguez) Wills; a great-granddaughter, Finley Rae Kelley; her brother, Lee Concannon, Jr., as well as nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Marjorie Pancratz and Carolyn Boyer.   May they rest in peace.
