Bacilla George was born on November 27, 1927 in Depue, Illinois, a daughter of Rafael and Tomasa (Razo) George. She was united in marriage to Frank H. Valle on May 29, 1948 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on March 23, 1994 following over 45 years of marriage.
Bacilla worked at Oscar Mayer, Service Rubber, Inc., Iowa Masonic Home, and did daycare for many years. Her greatest title though was as a mother and grandmother to her large family.
Bacilla loved to cook and taught many in the family how to. She was known for cooking, especially Mexican cuisine. She made homemade tortillas well into her 90’s. Bacilla was deeply devoted to her Catholic faith with a great devotion to the Blessed Mother, Mary. She prayed the rosary daily, sometimes up to ten times a day, each with a special intention for someone in her family. Bacilla also enjoyed sewing, playing the slot machines, and staying up on current events with CNN on the tv most of the time.
Survivors include her children: Marcia Valle, Davenport; Carolyn Valle-Schustek, Westchester, Illinois; Michael Valle, Bettendorf; Lisa Brennan, Norfolk, Virginia; Diane (Duane Fellner) DeMeyer, Bettendorf; Richard Valle, Davenport, Celia Valle, Bettendorf; nine grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and nine great-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Bacilla was preceded in death by her sons: Edward and Paul Valle, her parents, and siblings: Joseph Lopez, Frank Lopez, Ascension Lopez, Bonafacio George, Anita Reveles, Richard Lopez, Faustina Guzman, Margaret Serrano, Ruth “Cuca” Segura, and Celestino George. May they rest in peace.
The Valle family would like to thank the staff at DeVita Dialysis for all the special care they gave to Bacilla and the Our Lady of Lourdes parish community for their love and prayers and continuing to share the eucharist with her.
