Andrea was born on February 21, 1982 in Davenport, a daughter of Melissa (Blough) and Jeffrey Bassman. She graduated from Davenport Assumption High School in 2000 and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in public relations from Pepperdine University in 2004. She went on to earn her Master of Arts in Psychology from the Wright Institute in Berkeley, California.
Andrea was united in marriage to Alex Young on August 31, 2013 at the Renwick Mansion in Davenport, where she famously survived a bat bite at her wedding reception.
Her working life had humble beginnings wrapping gifts in Von Maur for the holidays before she moved on to more serious pursuits! Andrea worked for an innovation agency called Huge in London and then for Spotify, where she was Head of Innovation and Strategy. Most recently, she worked for Wise, an international financial business out of London where she was the Director of Strategy and Operations.
Andrea was a dreamer, she loved planning and doing big things. She enjoyed her children, revelling in the chaos they could bring, and loved talking with them about the world and their interests. She loved to travel and read, and with having Bassman DNA, she loved to run! She ran multiple marathons, and Bix 7 road races as well as completed the Atacama Crossing, a 6-Stage, 155-mile self-supported footrace located in the Atacama Desert, the driest desert in the world located in north of Chile.
Those left to honor her memory are her husband, Alex; children: Harper (10), Atessa (7), and Ashton (5); her mother, Melissa Blough, Bettendorf; brother and sister-in-law, Kyle and Stefani Bassman, Castro Valley, California; nephews, Barrett and Maverick Bassman, and her mother-in-law, Lyn Mabbs, of Wales, United Kingdom.
She was preceded in death by her father, Dr. Jeffrey Bassman.
