Alyce K. Van Camp Lenertz, 82, of Fort Myers Beach, Florida, formerly of Davenport, Iowa, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2023, after a long illness and was cremated according to her wishes.
The family will greet friends on Monday, December 11, 2023 from 4 until 6 p.m. at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, 614 N. Main Street, Davenport. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 417 N. Main Street, Davenport with burial in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. The Mass will be livestreamed by visiting St. Anthony's LIVESTREAM
Alyce Seider was born on July 24, 1941, the daughter of Herbert and Jeannette (Sternberg) Seider. She was raised in Davenport, Iowa. She attended Immaculate Conception Academy and was in the first graduating class of Assumption High School.
Alyce began her working career at the Davenport Chamber of Commerce, Alyce was Sole Proprietor of North Park Manor Apartments, Davenport, Iowa. She served on the City of Davenport Board of Supervisors. She also served as Secretary of Fanth Van Camp at Lake Odessa, Assistant to the CEO of the State Bank of Annawan, Annawan, Illinois as well as serving on numerous committees and boards at the bank. Alyce a devout Catholic and was a member of the Church of the Ascension, Fort Myers Beach, Florida and St. Anthony’s where she enjoyed attending Novena & St Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Davenport.
Alyce was a shopping, traveling and wine enthusiast. If you could not find her in a store shopping, she could be found in her swimsuit at a beach, lake, on her deck at N.P.A. or anywhere there was sun and water with very chilled glass of wine. She spent 30 plus years visiting her happy place, Aruba where she and her husband developed lifelong friendships. Alyce enjoyed her membership at the Outing Club and loved celebrating family meals and parties.
On January 6, 1962, Alyce married Anthony A. Van Camp at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Davenport Iowa and had three children, Anthony A. Van Camp II (Shelley), Davenport, Iowa, Angelita (Gregory, deceased) Stahler, Davenport, Iowa and Michelle “Moo” (Mark) Schiltz, Davenport, Iowa. Anthony Van Camp passed away on March 16, 1986, after an extended illness.
Robert Lenertz lost his wife, Roberta "Bobbie" on February 26,1986, after an extended illness. They had three children, Teresa “Teri” (Keith) Glover, Sachse, TX, Lisa (Randy, deceased) Pinkerton, Grinnell, Iowa, and Maria (Scott deceased) Osness, of Carrollton, TX.
Alyce K. Van Camp & Robert “Bob” were married on April 4, 1987, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Davenport, Iowa. Robert passed away on May 14, 2013
Alyce leaves behind her loving family. Her children, twelve grandchildren and fifteen great -grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Mike Seider, Davenport, Iowa and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her dog, Meisha, her sister, Nancy Kelso, her grandson Andrew Stahler, and three sons-in-law. May they rest in peace.
The family would like to thank her constant caregivers, her earthly angels, Jessi Irwin, and Rosie Fontress, as well as the Carmelite sisters of the Kahl Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Tunnels 2 Towers, or St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.
