Biography

A Mass of Christian Burial for Aloysius J. “Al” Roederer, 94, of Davenport will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 10, 2017 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 417 Main Street, Davenport. Burial will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Visitation will be Thursday from 2 until 4 p.m. at Koning Chapel at Ridgecrest Village, 4130 Northwest Blvd, Davenport. The Rosary will be prayed at 9:00 a.m. Friday at the church with additional visitation to follow until the time of the Mass.

Al passed away Monday, November 6, 2017 at Ridgecrest Village, Davenport.

Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Aloysius John Roederer was born on October 24, 1923 in Wilton Junction, Iowa, son of John and Elizabeth (Klassert) Roederer. Al served our country in the Army during World War II.

He was united in marriage to Mildred E. Angell on July 29, 1950 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Davenport. She preceded in him in death on December 1, 2010 after 60 years of marriage.

Al worked for Iowa-Illinois Gas and Electric Company at the Riverside Generating Station. He retired in 1985 after 37 years of service.

He was a charter member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church and a member of St. Anthony’s. Al and Mildred had a great love of traveling.

Memorials can be made to St. Anthony’s or Ridgecrest Village.

Al is survived by his “daughter” Lynn (Guy) Hudgins, Atlanta, Georgia, a sister-in-law, Evelyn Remy, Knoxville, Iowa, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Al was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Rosemary Sammon, Carl, Russ, and Ray Roederer, and Rita Hogarty. May they rest in peace.
