Alice M. Broderick, 85, a resident of New Braunfels, Texas, died on December 25, 2024, after a brief illness.
A service will be held for Alice on January 4, 2025, from 4 p.m to 6 p.m., at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home in New Braunfels. In Iowa, a visitation will take place in Davenport on January 10 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home. A private graveside service will follow on January 11.
Alice was born December 16, 1939, in Iowa City, Iowa, to George J. and Margaret Sheridan Moehlenhof. She spent her childhood in several cities in the Hawkeye State including Ottumwa, before graduating from high school at Davenport’s Immaculate Conception Academy. She graduated from Marycrest College in Davenport and embarked on a career teaching English in Iowa as well as in Maryville, Missouri, and Slaton, Texas. Later, she had a business career as a human resources executive with Container Corporation of America in Rock Island, Illinois, and Memphis, Tennessee.
Alice enjoyed volunteering at several organizations over the years, including the New Braunfels Public Library and Habitat for Humanity. Alice also imparted a love of learning, as well as a fondness for dogs and cats, to her sons. In addition, she was highly skilled at knitting.
She is survived by sons Brian (Mary Bowler) Broderick of Solon, Iowa, and Mark (Michelle) Broderick of New Braunfels; granddaughters Sheridan (Maggie Boyd) Broderick and Riley (Reece) Ziomek; and three great-grandchildren, Rhett, Leon, and Elias Ziomek. She is also survived by beloved relatives and friends including Sally Boyd and Pat Jones.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents and by her brother, George W. Moehlenhof.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help in New Braunfels or the New Braunfels Public Library.
