A Mass of Christian Burial for Susan M. O’Brien, 75, of Davenport will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at Holy Family Catholic Church. The Mass will be livestreamed and may be viewed by visiting her obituary at www.hmdfuneralhome.com. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport, concluding with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. There will be additional visitation prior to mass from 9:00a.m.-10:00a.m. Susan died Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at Genesis Medical Center, East Rusholme Campus.
Susan M. Kintzle was born November 29, 1945 in Muscatine, Iowa, to Richard C. and Deloris (Schumacher) Kintzle. She was united in marriage to Terry J. O’Brien on February 9, 1973 in Davenport. He preceded her in death February 27, 2017
Susan graduated from Mercy School of Nursing in Iowa City. As a Registered Nurse she had worked for many years for Dr. Mark A. Hull, M.D., Dr. Todd Ridenour, and Dr. J. Paul, M.D and then retiring in 2007. She enjoyed many years with her husband and family participating in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade and was a member of the Blues Society. Susan was the Organist for Holy Family Church, and a member of the Prayer Shawl Group. She also enjoyed her Bridge Club. Memorials may be made to Holy Family Church or The American heart Association.
Survivors include her daughters; Heather (Tom) Portz, and Erin (Michael) Baker, all of Davenport; grandchildren, Megan (Brice) Jackson, Lauren Portz, Mitchell Portz, Noah Portz, and McKayla Baker, all of Davenport, Jesslyn Baker, Nashville, IL, and Kambra Baker, Pontiac, IL; great grandchildren, Liam and Declan Farris, Nashville, IL, Aiden and Nora Jackson, Davenport, Lincoln Baker, Pontiac, IL; her sister Mary (John) Wasson, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters, Lois Ann and Ruth (Don) Shepard.
