Pamela "Pam" Murphy

Pamela “Pam” Ann Murphy, 72, of Davenport, formerly of Dixon, passed away Easter Sunday, April 4, 2021 at her home surrounded by her adoring family.

A Memorial Mass was  celebrated for Pam at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 8, 2021 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Davenport. It can be viewed by clicking this link https://youtu.be/w5K6ZL9r7-E Visitation was held Wednesday from 4 until 6 p.m. at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport with a prayer service offered at 6 p.m. It can be viewed by clicking this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CwIjkJVyRyI There was additional visitation Thursday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. in the gathering space at church.  Memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice, Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, the West Family YMCA, University of Iowa - Department of Neurology, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Pamela Ann Madden was born on September 8, 1948 in Davenport, a daughter to Roy and Elaine (Friederichs) Madden.  She was united in marriage to Gerald “Gerry” Murphy on August 1, 1970 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Long Grove.  They have shared over 50 years of marriage and memories together.

Pam was a radiology tech and coder at the Radiology Group in Davenport for many years, retiring in 2010.  She also farmed alongside Gerry for 45 years on her family’s century farm that she grew up on in the Dixon area.

Pam had a great sense of humor. She was always patient and calm and known for her candid, no-nonsense conversations.  She cherished her family, especially when they all were together. She particularly adored attending events for her grandchildren. In her free time, Pam enjoyed cooking, sewing, knitting, gatherings with her girlfriends, and going to the West Family YMCA. Pam will be remembered for her smile, quick wit, and the fierce love she shared with her family and friends.

Selfless to the very end, Pam requested that her brain be donated to the research of PML (progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy).

Survivors include her husband, Gerry, Davenport, children and their spouses: Derek (Cindy) Murphy, LeClaire, Troy (Natalie) Murphy, Long Grove, Tenley (Gregg) Damrow, Peoria, Illinois, and Alissa (Aaron) Kunert, Orion, Illinois; grandchildren: Kylie, Kelsey, Ashley, Ty, Kamden, Teegan, Lainey, Kellen, Lyla, Kane, and Payton; great-grandchildren: Josie and Aiden; a sister, Pat Ketz, Alaska/Arizona, a brother, Ronald (Pamela) Madden, Bettendorf/Florida; mother-in-law, Celeste Murphy, Long Grove, and the entire extended Murphy clan.

Pam was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Paul Madden.
