|Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial for Dr. Mark D. Dunahugh, 49, of Bettendorf, will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 27th at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Bettendorf. Visitation will be Tuesday at the church from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be in Oakdale Memorial Gardens, Davenport. Memorials may be made to the family for a memorial fund to be established..
Mark passed away Friday, February 22, 2013 at Trinity Medical Center West Campus, Rock Island following a brief battle with cancer.
Mark Dennis Dunahugh was born May 5, 1963 in Cedar Rapids a son of Dennis and Joyce (Martin) Dunahugh. He graduated from the University of Iowa in 1986 with a double major in Biology and Chemistry and then the Illinois College of Optometry in 1990. He was united in marriage to Debra LaScola on August 6, 1988 in Niles, IL.
Dr. Mark was an optometrist for over 22 years and owned and operated Dunahugh Eye Care Associates in Davenport, Burlington, and formerly in Moline.
Mark was an extraordinary person in everything that he did, whether it was gardening, cooking, or coaching his daughter, Lauren or son Sean. He had a great passion and talent for woodworking and enjoyed putting his magical touch on almost everything. As a husband, son and father, he was the best a family could ask for and was a selfless and true gentleman in every sense of the word. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
He was a fan of the Boston Red Sox and enjoyed using his personal pilots license.
Mark is survived by his wife Debbie and their children, Lauren and Sean, all of Bettendorf; brother Jeff Dunahugh, Robins, IA; mother Joyce Oldorf, Anamosa, IA; uncle Bob (Linda) Dunahugh; cousin Terry (Shelli) Springer, all of Cedar Rapids; father and mother in law Martin and Dorothy LaScola, Sugar Grove, IL; and brother in law Martin (Ana) LaScola, Buffalo Grove, IL.
His father preceded him in death.
